Maria G. Matza, phD, RCN, PHN

Professor of Nursing Education

Maria Guadalupe Matza, PhD, RNC, PHN is Associate Professor of Nursing for California State University, Fullerton. She is Lead Faculty for Population Health. Maria is the current president and founding member of the Orange County Chapter of the National Association of Hispanic Nurses (OCNAHN). Maria serves on multiple OC community advisory boards and service organizations in the Greater Orange County community. She serves as faculty advisor for the CSUF Student Nursing Association (NSA) and the CSUF chapter of the Flying Samaritans.

To date, her teaching, professional development, and community service remains focused on interventions related to the health concerns of the Latino community. As a professional nurse, academician, and advocate Dr. Matza infuses cultural competence into her teaching, scholarship, and service by utilizing the four pillars of Hispanic culture: conquest, collectivism, familism, and personalism.
